News from Lviv: Confusing public transport and hopeful supporters
Lviv is preparing for the summer even though it's bitterly cold just now. Oleh Soldatenko tells us about the new public transport system which has Lviv citizens confused. On the football side of things, after winning against Austria, Lviv fans are sure that they are the real lucky charm for the national team.

Today marks the beginning of a four week process as supporters groups from across Europe begin their preparations for Euro 2012 in earnest. Representatives from supporter organisations in England, Sweden and France are the first to embark on the programme, co-ordinated by the Football Supporters Europe network (FSE), which will help them get ready for their visit to Ukraine in the summer.
The game Poland – Germany in the PGE Arena in Gdańsk on 9 September 2011 was the first occasion for the Polish Fans’ Embassy teams from Gdansk, Poznan, Wroclaw and Warsaw to organise a real test of the Fans’ Embassy project.
On Friday 11th of November 2011 Poland played a friendly match against Italy in Wroclaw. It was first international game in the new stadium built for UEFA EURO 2012™.
For the Wroclaw Fans’ Embassy this was a first test for all fan experts and volunteers and a perfect opportunity to prepare the Fans’ Embassy service together with two representatives from the Italian Progetto Ultrà that organised an “Ambasciata dei Tifosi Italia”.

EURO 2012 is the most significant upcoming event in Poland and Ukraine and is impatiently awaited by the inhabitants of both countries: the infrastructure is developing, new airports, train stations, roads and stadiums are under construction and, central places of the main cities are full of advertising about the upcoming football tournament.
In the run-up to EURO 2012 the German KOS Fanprojekte organised a mobile Fans’ Embassy service in close cooperation with the Ukrainian colleagues before the match Ukraine – Germany in Kyiv on 11 November 2011.

Less than a year before the kick-off of Euro 2012, representatives from Poland and Ukraine described the status quo of the preparations for the fans embassy service at the "Euro 2012 - expect the unexpected" workshop held on July 2nd on Brondby Stadium in the framework of 4th European Football Fans' Congress.
Ukraine ahead of Poland…or not?
Better late than never! Against all the odds and rumors about the lack of progress with the tournament organisation, seven out of eight football stadia in Poland and Ukraine are finally finished. And whilst the new FK Karpaty Stadium in Lviv will be the last Ukrainian stadium to be inaugurated as host venue of EURO2012 on 29 October 2011, the building works in Warsaw are still in progress with the opening being expected at some stage in February. But just like the entire preparations for these first European Championships in Eastern Europe up until now, the construction works and stadium openings again featured some yet unforeseen curiosities…
